Joanie comes from a family of artists. Her Mother, who painted in oils, entertained her nine children on snowy days by drawing and painting for them. "I used to think her hands were like magic."

Joanie's brother, Mark Anderson is highly recognized throughout the Midwest for his art, he has also generated millions for Ducks Unlimited habitat conservation. This year he won the most prestigious award of winning the 2004 Federal Duck Stamp. Her sister, Colleen, is a pastel artist.

Joanie picked up a brush for the first time 14 years ago. "I found myself going to sleep painting, and waking up painting." Her vibrant, spontaneous paintings reveal her energy, love of life, sense of abstraction, and the beauty of the freedom to create. "It truly is like magic," says Joanie, recalling her mother's memory.

Joanie has studied with many well-known artists. Her works have been shown throughout the country and have received numerous awards. She is represented in many corporate and private collections in the United States.
